“After a triumphant run at the National Theatre singing the role of Young Heidi in Stephen Sondheim’s Follies alongside Dame Josephine Bairstow and Imelda Staunton, Alison Langer is fast gaining a reputation in the UK and Europe for her “fine lyric soprano voice” (The Independent)
In 2017, Alison was awarded a 2017/18 Opera Award Bursary and this season, she will be performing the role of Violetta for Opera Holland Park on the Christine Collins Young Artist Programme.
Whilst training on the Opera Course at the GSMD where she had various scholarships and awards, Alison gained a place in the Glyndebourne Festival for the 15/16 season and Tour. She performed in Barry Kosky’s critically acclaimed Saul Handel and in the 2016 festival, she sang the Bridesmaid in Michael Grandage’s Le Nozze di Figaro Mozart.
Operatic roles include: Violetta – La Traviata Verdi Opera Holland Park Christine Collins programme, Musetta for Iford Arts production of La Boheme Puccini, The Mother in the world premiere of Snow Murphy for The Opera Story, Lisette in La Rondine Puccini for Opera in the Open Dublin, Norina I pazzi per Progetto Donizetti at GSMD, The Countess in The Cunning Peasant Dvorak GSMD, Florence in A Soldier and a Maker by Iain Burnside Barbican Pit Theatre.
On the concert platform, Alison has performed as a soloist at St Martin in the Fields, Mozart Requiem Mass, Birmingham Symphony Hall Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music under the baton of Simon Halsey CBE, St John’s Piccadilly, Royal Albert Hall Barbican Music Hall and the QEH.
